Ginger Nuts of Horror
Two years ago, a series of horrific murders shocked the city of Bristol. These were killings so elaborate in their planning, and so outrageous in their execution, that they made national headlines for weeks.
Now the journalists who wrote the stories behind those headlines are beginning to die, in ways even more gruesome, even more flamboyant, and even more unbelievable than the murders they themselves wrote about at such length in the national dailies all those months ago.
Dr Edward Valentine, brilliant surgeon and the maniac responsible for the Nine Deaths, has not been seen since he escaped the police following a final confrontation.
Has he returned?
Is he now intent on punishing the British tabloid press that he feels has misrepresented him?
Has he chosen as the most appropriate method of punishment that most British of institutions, the Hammer Horror film?
And how many times will the Hammer of Dr Valentine strike before he can be stopped?
Of course, there’s only one way to find out…
Once more, John L. Probert’s brings us an affectionate, bloodily gruesome and blackly comic tribute and homage to the Golden Age of horror films, this time pulling focus on that most famous of British cinematic institutions, Hammer Films. Included in the hardback edition is an Appendix, THE HAMMER FILMS OF DR. VALENTINE, featuring mini-reviews and reminiscences by the author of all the films referenced in the story.
The Hammer of Dr. Valentine is the much-anticipated sequel to the award-winning The Nine Deaths of Dr. Valentine, and the magnificently malign medical madman is hellbent on setting the record straight in his own inimitable manner.
John L. Probert saw his first Hammer film at the age of ten. It was Terence Fisher’s Dracula (1958). The Mummy (1959) the week after and Dracula Has Risen From the Grave (1968) the week after that, immersed him in a world of elegant, bloody, sexy horror that he has loved ever since.
This is a bit different, rather than promoting a horror film or a horror book, I'm going to ask you to take a look and consider helping these guys out. I've done a lot of with Beverly and she is awesome.
LAB•B is home to a community of creative entrepreneurs and freelancers. We are Brampton’s first coworking space, and membership means an alternative to working at home or in a coffee shop, a chance to share ideas and build networks, a chance to collaborate on new opportunities and keep professional skills sharp.
Naturally over time we have become family, and the space has become our home.
Why are we crowdfunding?
On October 2nd, 2014, we were served a cease and desist letter by the owner of the building in which LAB•B was located. The letter asked us to stop doing business in the building; however, the reason that was given was inaccurate. After discussion with lawyers, we were assured that LAB•B had not violated any terms of the lease and had been clear at the outset that coworking was one of the purposes of the space. Still, it became clear to us that there was no way we could grow and thrive in an environment that would have us constantly walking on eggshells with a landlord who doesn’t understand.
Steve Kahn the writer and director of the film had this to say about his latest project.
FEAR is a visually striking poetic film on the universal emotion that can hit us when we let insignificant little incidents spin wildly out of control.
My film is a visual piece on the nature of fear - how seemingly innocent little things in our lives can swirl and twist and wind uncontrollably into mammoth proportions. Rather than a traditional plot the film is meant to be a poem on the fear cascade that we can all can experience. I return to the cascade theme again again whether it be blood swirling down the drain or her spinning around, or the doorknob spinning on the ground or her actions spinning from shaving her legs to washing her hair, then taking a bath.

Two years ago, Steve Wolsh quit his job and sold everything he owned. Then, he convinced a creative and resourceful production team and cast to leave L.A. and spend 19 grueling nights in New England’s wetlands to film the middle chapter of his true horror trilogy, “MUCK”. Now, on the heels of selling the distribution rights for “MUCK” to ANCHOR BAY ENTERTAINMENT ("MUCK" will hit theaters next March), Steve will once again risk everything he has, as well as beg, borrow, steal, and, this time … Kickstart, to make the prequel to “MUCK”. You don't have to sell everything you own, but by backing theri campaign you will be part of the “MUCK” trilogy, which is truly independent and completely free from green screens, stages, and CGI.
