Ginger Nuts of Horror
SMART RHINO PUBLICATIONS RELEASES NEW APOCALYPTIC NOVELLA
Laura Cooney and L.L. Soares have created an apocalytpic novella that is disturbing, graphic, and provocative. A mysterious “green tsunami” has swept the planet—and nothing will be the same as both living and inanimate things begin to metamorphosize into a new horrifying reality. The story is told entirely via emails between a man and his wife, separated by the catastrophe, describing the terrors they must face as they strive to survive.
“You would think that when a big green tsunami pounds down on the earth and floods the streets, and rips buildings out of the ground, that the scientists would have seen something coming. That they could have prepared for it. But this seems to have caught everyone with their pants down.
“And it doesn’t make sense that anyone survived. Nobody seems to remember when it actually hit. And nobody can figure out how we all didn’t get wiped out. How we all didn’t just drown.
“I’ve never seen such damage. And at the same time, it all seems to be healing over in some weird way. New things growing in their place—I can’t identify most of it. But I’ll try if you let me ...”
The cover illustration is by Dan Verkys, with a cover design by Ju Kim. Interior illustrations were created by Will Renfro, Justynn Tyme, and Ju Kim. Edited by Weldon Burge.
The paperback and Kindle versions are currently available on Amazon.

Dark Fiction author Richard Schiver is pleased to announce the release of his latest novel. White Walker.
When she was ten she made a promise to that which inhabits the winter storm. Now she’s twenty-six and pregnant, and the White Walker has returned to collect his due.
For Teddy his first day as shift supervisor could not have come at a worst time. A severe blizzard has shut down the region as old man winter refuses to relinquish his grip. Only ten percent of his team have shown up for work, and he learns upon arriving that one of his first duties that day will be to fire his girlfriend.
He believes it can’t get any worse than it already is. That is until one of his people dies at the hands of a legendary creature that inhabits the blizzard. A prehistoric deity once worshiped by ancient man on the vast Siberian plains. Brought to these shores by Russian immigrants seeking a better life in the deep coalmines that once dotted the hills around the Appalachian Mountain town of Frostburg.
Cut off from the outside world, stalked by a creature from the past, the survivors are forced to abandon the safety of a building that has been stressed to the breaking point.
But how does one escape a winter storm?

Hello everyone, I'm sorry to say that for next few months or so I am going to have to put a hold on accepting new books for review. My position as a jury member for the British Fantasy Awards for Best Horror Novel and Best Magazine means that until we come to our choice of winner all my free reading time will be devoted to this task.
Sorry about this but I have to give my full attention to the job in hand
The world is dying. An abhorrent epidemic is sweeping the globe, destroying everything it touches. Contact with even a single drop of contaminated blood or saliva is enough to spread the disease. Within hours even the healthiest people are transformed into hideous, germ-spewing creatures. They hunt out the uninfected in their tens of thousands, their sole purpose to continue spreading the infection.+
On a recently-built housing development on the outskirts of a large city, one man will stop at nothing to protect his family from the coming storm. Stuart has been one step ahead of the game from the beginning. His garage is stocked high with supplies, the doors and windows of his home fortified, weapons held ready in case of attack.+
With each passing minute, there are more infected surrounding the house. With each passing minute, Stuart and his family have less food and water available. Some time very soon, the balance will shift.+
But Stuart won’t stop give up on his family, no matter what the cost.
The Black Dog Eats the City. Unlike any other book about depression that you'll ever read.
You just can’t win.
You feel it before you see it, The Black Dog - the Cimmerian demon with baleful breath, diminishing the light wherever it tracks…
…the size of a large calf, its footfalls are silent - the portents of death hidden behind caliginous evil. It squeezes into the soul. You know it because he scrunches your stomach into a tight paper-ball and forces it out through your anus. Then you’re a goner…
You just can’t win.

"Love, relationships, passion and jealousy all intertwine their way through this collection to produce a tapestry of terror that will shock you, bring you to tears and linger in your subconscious for days." - gingernutsofhorror.com
"Laced with uneasy comedy, each tale shows us that our monsters within are perhaps to be feared as much as any that may or may not be lurking out there in the darkness, and that every action we take has its consequences." - Starburst Magazine
"Other People's Darkness' is a collection of short stories very much in the vein of 'The Books of Blood' by Clive Barker, or even some of the earlier short-story work of Stephen King. The stories move from touching to ghastly, and all the while have a sort of whimsical moral reverence that serves them well." - horror-punks.com
"This collection of intelligent and frightful stories will leave you sleeping with the lights on, questioning all your motives, and not pissing off love struck fools." - traumaticcinema.com

The Alterna Comics psychological horror title, THE CHAIR, is currently being adapted as a feature film and has taken to Kickstarter to raise awareness and a budget. Hoping to reach a target goal of $300K on Kickstarter, THE CHAIR features a fan favorite cast and crew from films and television shows like Nightmare on Elm Street, Gremlins, The NeverEnding Story, The Dark Knight, American Horror Story, Justice League Unlimited, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer - just to name a few.
THE CHAIR, at its heart, is a dark character study on the choices people make in life. This isn't just a film about a prison where people get tortured, many themes are explored upon in the film, including familial relationships, child abuse, mental health care, and capital punishment. A battle of nature vs. nurture, THE CHAIR is a thought-provoking film without monsters, zombies, or vampires - a film that shows the capacity for good and evil that exists within the human soul.
Richard Sullivan (played by Brian Thompson) is an innocent man struggling to escape execution on death row. Witnessing the torture and murder of his fellow inmates at the hands of the prison's sadistic and psychotic Warden (played by Bill Oberst Jr.), Sullivan decides that the only way to survive is to fight back. But as he matches the savagery and brutality occurring in the prison, Sullivan is forced to come face to face with his own sanity.
