Colin F. Barnes is a publisher and full-time writer of science fiction and techno thrillers and a member of both the British Fantasy Society and the British Science Fiction Association. He honed his craft with the London School of Journalism and the Open University (BA, English).
Colin has run a number of tech-based businesses, worked in rat-infested workshops, and scoured the back streets of London looking for characters and stories—which he found in abundance. He has a number of publishing credits with stories alongside authors such as: Brian Lumley, Ramsey Campbell, and Graham Masterton.
Stephen King and Frank Herbert were his first adult books, which he read during his primary school education. Luckily, some teacher left them in the kid’s library among all the Janet & John books. It was clear that dark, gritty and speculative fiction would be his direction.
From there he moved onto James Herbert, Brian Lumley, Anne Rice. Shortly after he found his cornerstones: H.P.Lovecraft, Clark Ashton Smith, William Gibson, and Ray Bradbury. It’s a combination of all these that led him to write what he writes, and he owes them a debt of gratitude for their great stories and for providing him with the catalyst to tell his own stories.
Current WorkColin F. Barnes straddles the traditional and indie publishing divide. He’s had a number of short stories and novellas published (see list below) as well putting out some of his work through his publishing company Anachron Press. He is currently working on a cyberpunk/ technothriller series titled ‘The Techxorcist‘.

The story follows Erin, the surviving identical twin of Emily who was tragically killed exactly one year ago.
Multiple apparitions of the dead teen simultaneously haunt the family while Erin tries to cope with the guilt of Emily’s death, haunting visions, a jilted ex-boyfriend who taps into supernatural forces to enact revenge, and a family that is quickly disintegrating.
Having made a break with the occult underworld, Erin struggles with her own identity as a person while dating the high school football star who is very different from her.
Carpenter writes a smart, riveting, and fantastic story with well-rounded characters and many twists and turns. He is a graphic designer and copywriter whose spare time is also devoted to creating a very popular fine art series titled Alterniverse: The Urth Chronicles.
Settle in for the night and immerse yourself into the nightmare. It is a book you won’t be able to put down until it is finished cover to cover. Sleeping afterwards, however, may be a difficult task.
The novel is available online and at other locations which are listed on the website www.GhostsOfEmilyGray.com
Residing near Galveston, TX, C. Keith Carpenter applies personal talents and skills as a graphic designer/copywriter with the Hearst Publishing Corporation. His spare time is devoted to creating fine art that is featured in the world-renowned Affaire d’art International Gallery in the famed historic district on the island—an area well known for its own ghostly encounters.
The Alchemist's Notebook was originally a movie that was in preproduction several years ago titled, The Cry of Cthulhu. Unfortunately the project, like many good intentions, never came to fruition. Their concept was an all new Cthulhu Mythos story to be put on film that would have done H.P. Lovecraft proud. At the time, there had been several poor attempts to place Lovecraft and his dreaded Necronomicon on the big screen. They had the notion to make an exciting, plus mind-boggling, Cthulhu movie that had the look and feel as if Lovecraft had stood behind the camera.
The Alchemist's Notebook embodies the same vision in a literary format. Mr. Craft endeavored to pen this Cthulhu Mythos novel as it may have been done if H.P. Lovecraft were alive in the 21st century. Nevertheless, The Alchemist's Notebook consists of three separate narratives that link together a single story, where when one account leaves off, the other continues leading you, the reader, through a terrifying Lovecraftian web of mystery, horror and apocalyptic doom.
The male protagonist, a shell-shocked Vietnam vet, and his wife, inherit an old country estate in Germany around the time that the husband’s company transfers him to the same area. The two soon discover that the coincidence is really too good to be true.
Their home, the schloss, rests near a timeworn door into the earth that is poised to open, exposing all to a horde of four-dimensional beings. Soon the line between our reality and that other space-time will be blurred forever, leaving mankind to be consumed by shrill, shrieking terror.
Only one man has the slimmest chance to save our planet and, even though he has no place to hide, he prefers to run.
Byron Craft has been known to refer to this work as The Alchemist's Notebook because it is the first in a five novel mythos series dealing with mankind’s internal, as well as, outward struggle to control his own destiny while encountering malicious beings from another time and space.
The cover and interior illustrations were done by the artist Tom Sullivan who is best known for his work on The Fly II, The Dread, Army of Darkness and Evil Dead 2.
Byron Craft hopes you will enjoy, in addition to being scared stiff, the first of his five part series…The Alchemist's Notebook

For the first time, five of Thomas Tessier’s short stories will be brought to the screen in the 2014 anthology film Thomas Tessier's World of Hurt.
“It’s every writer’s dream to find people who want to take your story and turn it into an excellent movie that is faithful to the original material,” Thomas Tessier said. “I feel very fortunate indeed to have that—times five!”
For more than three decades, Tessier has been writing acclaimed novels and stories of horror, suspense and the uncanny. Peter Straub has called Tessier’s novels, “Excellent… frightening…something very special in the field of horror.” Stephen King praises his work as, “Very good indeed, scary, grim, and fast-paced,” and Ramsey Campbell says Tessier’s stories are, “Terrifying…As frightening as anyone now writing in this field. One of the few who are extending the boundaries of the field rather than merely retelling guaranteed terrors.”
When asked about this project, Tessier said, “The stories in World of Hurt range over the whole spectrum of horror, from the demons that dwell within us, feeding on our fantasies and obsessions, to the monsters that lay in wait for us outside...in the woods at the edge of town or just down the street, in the backyard or the room upstairs.”
The five stories in Thomas Tessier's World of Hurt are from his Remorseless (Sinister Grin Press) and Ghost Music (Cemetery Dance Publications) collections and include, “I Remember Me,” “In Praise of Folly,” The Infestation at Ralls,” “The Ventriloquist,” and “Evelyn Grace.” Production is to begin in 2014 and each director (identities forthcoming) will be writing his or her own script in consultation with Tessier.
About the five directors Tessier said, “I’m thrilled to be working with such a talented and accomplished group of directors and filmmakers. They are going to create powerful moments of fear, dread and horror, and riveting cinema.”
The project is currently seeking qualified equity investors and lenders. Interested parties should contact Well Done Productions at email@example.com.
Tessier’s novel Fog Heart received the International Horror Guild’s Award for Best Novel and was cited by Publishers Weekly as one of the Best Books of the Year. A finalist for both the Bram Stoker Award and the World Fantasy Award, Tessier’s work was also included in The Huffington Post’s “Ten Books That Will Scare the Shit Out of You!”
“Look for horror, and you will find it,” Tessier said. “Don’t look for it, and it will find you.”
In 2014, it’s apparent that horror will find all of us in the form of Thomas Tessier's World of Hurt

Great news folks, Richard Wright's latest novel The Flesh Market is out now. If you are looking for a fantastic new take on a tired genre, then this is the book for you. It's a brilliant read, look out for a review soon.
"Doon the wynds an' up the streets, Where revenants sought souls tae eat,
The Butcher called for twitching meat
An' Burke an' Hare did answer." -anon.
1827. A year after the Cadaver Riots tore the heart from Edinburgh. Fear still chokes the Old Town, for though the revenants were driven back with shot and steel, they still lurk in the city's shadowed closes. When night falls, they strike.
In dissecting rooms anatomists slice twitching flesh as they dream of cures and glory. For the greatest among them, Robert Knox, there is no price that cannot be met in the quest for knowledge. Behind closed doors he trades in walking death, dealing with devils to keep the flesh market supplied...
Set between the slums of 19th Century Edinburgh and the ivory towers of its academia, The Flesh Market is an almost true story of murder, mad science, obsession, and the restless dead.

Independent film makers are the lifeblood of British Horror films, so why not keep the heart of horror pump by helping out these fine fellows.
Manchester-based production company, Cohort Pictures are proud to announce that production is set to begin on their latest short horror film, entitled Vanity, with filming set to begin in April 2014.
Written by Patrick O’Brien, Vanity will be directed by award-winning director Courtney Edwards (Clench) and produced by Maxwell Jones.
Vanity is only one chapter in the life of an enigmatic young man named Julius Crowley and follows the story of a young woman, Elizabeth, who has accepted an invitation to join him for dinner at his manor house, despite only meeting the day before. However, it isn’t long before her night in the company of the charming stranger takes a most unexpected turn.
Writer Patrick O’Brien will take on the role of Julius, while casting continues for the remaining roles.
O’Brien had the following to say, “My hope is that, with Vanity, we are able to offer horror fans a fresh take on a tired horror mainstay. However, we can only do it with your help and every penny raised will be put to good use and visible onscreen”.
A crowd-funding campaign is currently under way at Indiegogo to raise funds for the project which promises to be a “sinister and unconventional horror film for fans of American Psycho, Hannibal and Dorian Gray”.
Why should you invest in Vanity???
British horror films, most of the time, fail to deliver, and we're fed up with vampire and zombie films just being made with the same story lines all the time. I mean, whats with all the sexy vampire shows at the moment? Give me Christopher Lee over Robert Pattinson any day.
By investing and supporting this film, firstly, you will be helping independent cinema, and secondly would be helping to make an original and thrilling horror film which will contain our more novel and creative ideas. Not just a studio film that has been made a thousand times before.
All the money we raise (6k) will be used to make this film as a unique and sinister piece of cinema. We are shooting the film on a red cam (you know how expensive that can be) but we are filming for the big screen, so therefore a bigger budget is needed. We don't want to have to rush to get shots finished and a decent shooting time is necessary. In addition, we need funds for our FX, we are going to keep it old school and stay away from CGI in order to bring back that feeling and appearance of old school horror. In our opinion we feel that old blood FX's look so much more effective than modern day post production blood, and gives more realism. We want to use funds to employ a professional FX company, in order to make the film as gloriously gory and bloody as possible, while retaining realism. The majority of the filming will take place at night (which can be difficult and costly). We have having an original score being composed for Vanity which we believe will give the film its own unique presence.
Because of the limited locations and a small cast we believe we can achieve this within this budget.
In exchange for your help we are giving away Bloody Vanity Goodies such as
- Signed Poster's.
- Signed DVD's.
- Digital downloads of the film and the making of the film.
- A trip to the set while we film to meet the cast and crew in
- An Executive Producer title.
- Tickets to the premiere in Manchester or London in The UK.
- A chance to a have cameo role written in the film just for you.
If you can't help with donating money. Please Please sharing this page with your friends on Facebook, Twitter or blog site anywhere just to help us get the word out.
Welcome to the blood bath!!
